The 4th installment of Zack Tornaben’s Rules & Chance series was recorded in April of 2026 as tribute to his beloved raga teacher Michael Harrison, who passed recently after a private battle with cancer. Real Invisible Time consists of four extended organ improvisations using a tuning developed by Harrison during his many years studying with Pandit Pran Nath, La Monte Young, Terry Riley, and Mashkoor Ali Khan.

Warm devotional tones and overtones blend and breathe in slow-motion sun cycles of tape delay and radiant electricity. Duration becomes its own instrument, transposed drones steadily accruing the weight of ancient hymns. It’s music both elevated and eternal, between prism and reflecting pool, casting light into a thousand shades of gold.

Mastered by Jared Carrigan.

Design by Zack Tornaben.
