The Jolts are well known as the best rock ’n ’roll band in Western Canada. Since forming, they’ve charting college radios across the country with every release and played every nook and cranny on their numerous cross-Canada tours. Their six-year history has seen them open up for just about every touring heavyweight that made their way through Vancouver, earning rave reviews from concert goers and critics alike for their high-energy stage presence and quality musicianship. 2010 highlights included headlining a massive punk rock party in Vancouver celebrating former Black Flag frontman Ron Reyes’s 50th birthday, a headlining slot alongside UK punk legends Deviated Instinct at Vancouver’s Distort Fest and an Olympic protest show with Vancouver punk legends D.O.A. right in the heart of the infamous Downtown Eastside.
8% is a co-release between Joey Keithley’s Sudden Death Records and the band’s own Haute Voltage label. The album is a testament to The Jolts’ versatility. The Ramones’ hooks and progressions are still there, but the music has evolved beyond punk rock conventions, flirting with influences ranging from Rose Tattoo and MC5 to Hanoi Rocks and The Damned. Despite these comparisons, The Jolts remain a sound all their own.
With every town’s bar in their sites, The Jolts bring their supercharged rock ’n’ roll on tour from August to October 2011.
