Gwenaël Rattke is a French-German graphic artist living in Berlin. He works primarily in collage, printmaking, and independent publishing, and privileges hands-on, analog approaches and techniques. Tecnocreto brings together Rattke’s many interests: industrial construction processes, commercial graphic design, and the idea of Mexico City as a place of exile and refuge. In this book, Rattke assembles an argument for the poetic and transformational potential of art when it is understood as a form of healing.

His book projects include Mechanical Fantasy Box, The Homoerotic Journal of Patrick Cowley (2019), San Francisco Reverberation (2018) and Patterns and Perspectives (2017) for Visible Publications, and Edgewise: A Picture of Cookie Mueller (2014) with Chloe Griffin. He has designed numerous album covers for Patrick Cowley and others on the Dark Entries label, and recently designed the sleeve and zine for the label’s 2021 release Back Up: Mexican Tecno Pop 1980-1989 which shares a similar cover image with Tecnocreto. Rattke’s work is represented by Romer Young Gallery of San Francisco. - Visible Publications
