***Dêmocide, the second full-length from Dispossessed, features five tracks presenting a return to the suffocating finality of devastating, sludgy-doom metal. Formed in 2014, Dispossessed emerged from Portland’s metal underground with a mission to confront systems of oppression through uncompromising, feedback-driven music. By blending elements of sludge, doom, and death metal, they forged a powerful sound rooted in anger, despair, and political resistance. Their sound combines slow-burning riffs, bleak atmospheres, and a raw, aggressive energy that draws influence from bands like Corrupted, Asunder, Winter, and Grief. Lyrically and thematically, Dispossessed engages directly with issues such as systemic violence, environmental destruction, and carceral injustice, grounding their work in anti-authoritarian ideals. Dêmocide reflects the band’s ongoing commitment to challenging silence and injustice through sound; painting the bleak, desolate soundscape for our modern times.
