Jeffrey Luck Lucas is a singer-songwriter, composer, arranger, and also a former and founding member of the seminal 1980s garage band The Morlocks. He has three previous solo albums and has played cello for a number of artists that include Paula Fraser, Barbara Manning, Chuck Prophet, Steve Von Till, Neurosis, and more. Floors is a collection of nocturnal ballads that evokes the quiet, bittersweet atmosphere of a deserted city street after midnight, perfectly balancing vulnerable, romantic storytelling with a grand, moody, and deeply atmospheric sound. The wee hours of the night are conjured with Lucas’ droll, deadpan delivery, reminiscent of Leonard Cohen and Mick Harvey, featuring skeletal bedroom arrangements that accentuate the intimacy and longing at the heart of this highly personal outing.
