***On 2021’s Noise Noise Noise, THE LAST GANG pushed their musical boundaries in new and unexpected ways, spitting barbs both personal and political at whoever might listen. The follow-up Obscene Daydreams is 11 tracks of sharply composed, no-punches-pulled punk, which finds the Orange County quartet in top form and ready to explode. Produced once again by Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Pennywise, Alkaline Trio, NOFX), Obscene Daydreams is the result of a new, more intentional writing process. Working on a deadline this time around, the album was written and recorded in less than a year. The expediency of recording served the quartet well, as Obscene Daydreams delivers in abundance, The Last Gang's signature mix of melodic hooks and raw feelings. While outrage and defiance figure prominently in those feelings, love and pride share center stage. Opener “Electric Avenue” is an ode to ride-or-die friendship, and “Madness” is a full-on love song (or as close to one as a “nihilistic optimist” like singer Brenna Red can deliver). “Berlin to Rome” celebrates life on the road, and “Rumors” finds Red flexing her no-bullshit self-confidence. An interaction with a bigoted fan inspired “The Others,” forcing Red to make clear the quartet’s LGBTQIA+ allyship. The authenticity of The Last Gang's music lies in these lived experiences, making each album a kaleidoscopic journal of sorts. With nonstop touring planned throughout 2024, The Last Gang cannot wait to share this chapter with the world.

FAT 170

***THE LAST GANG hit the ground running with their Fat Wreck Chords debut 7" Sing for your Supper in December 2017. From the second that needle dropped, fans felt the infectious energy these LA punks have become known for. Now about to release their second full-length album, they show no signs of slowing down. One listen to Noise Noise Noise, and you’ll discover a band who has not only pushed their musical boundaries in new and unexpected ways; but as a lyricist, Brenna Red has unlocked a new side of herself, spitting barbs both personal and political at whoever might listen. Noise Noise Noise is nothing if not full of curveballs. The album opens with the “Guns of Brixton”-esque title track, the first of the album’s many forays into guitar upstrokes and elastic basslines. The next curveball comes in the very next track, “WFTW,” the rare punk song that’s four minutes long, and feeling a little bit like Searching For A Former Clarity-era Against Me!, with Red cramming as many syllables into her verses as humanly possible. The Last Gang are at their absolute best on Noise Noise Noise, as they once again teamed up with Cameron Webb (Motorhead, NOFX, Alkaline Trio) to bring their fans every ounce of piss and vinegar they have been so eagerly awaiting.

***THE LAST GANG hit the ground running with their Fat Wreck Chords debut 7" "Sing For Your Supper" in December 2017. From the second that needle dropped, fans felt the infectious energy this LA threesome has become known for. The Last Gang's follow-up full-length is unstoppable! Keep Them Counting gives fans a full serving of what was teased by their Fat Wreck debut 7”. The opening track “Sing for your Supper” rips right out of the gate with an infectious chorus that is an ear worm for the ages. That is only the beginning of what this debut album has to offer. The diversity of Keep Them Counting is what makes it an instant classic. The band gets the crowd into a frenzy with the hard-hitting “Blood Drunk” and “Nobody’s Prostitute,” then slow it down for heartfelt punky ballads “Karla” and “Secret Sounds,” while never losing sight of the ethos that make them what they are: straight forward punk rock, airtight songwriting, bouncing melodies, and blood curdling vocal lines that will make Joan Jett and Brody Dalle proud.

Sing For Your Supper

***THE LAST GANG may seem like a new band, but they’ve been grinding out their mix of tough-as-nails punk and bouncing melodies for a little over a decade now. Sing For Your Supper is more than just a teaser for the 2018 full-length album. These songs serve as a perfect introduction to The Last Gang. The Title track-which will also be on their forthcoming new album-is the kind of palm-muted ripper that made Rancid famous; with a bouncing bass line, a huge hook, and airtight songwriting that you won’t be able to get out of your head. For the B-side, the band offer up an exclusive track, that whips up a frenzy from the very start, shifting directions on a dime but never losing sight of their pop-indebted ethos.
