"Acid Escape Vol 3 is the third installment of a series released on Oakland’s FREAKS label, and the first to be pressed to [vinyl]. Four long tracks from the duo of Zachary James Watkins (Black Spirituals) and Ross Peacock flow with a dubby energy. Drum machines lock into relentlessly funky grooves, synth fanfares flutter and guitar lines carve jagged labyrinths out of time. On album closer “The End”, the synths take a turn for the dungeon-esque, while syncopated beats flicker like tongues of molten metal. A mangled melody emerges from this dark din and then hangs around after everything else drops out, as if entreating the listener to flip the record over and start the ride all over again."
