Bad Vibes Good Friends

***Named after a beloved ice cream parlor in Caracas, is a Venezuelan power trio that blends the rhythms and melodies of their homeland’s traditional music with a dynamic fusion of rock, funk, Latin grooves, jazz, and exotica. Comprising a trio of accomplished musicians—Neil Ochoa (Si Se, Chicha Libre), José Luis Pardo aka Cheo (Los Amigos Invisibles, DJ Afro), and Bam Rodriguez (Arturo O'Farrill)—the band creates a genre-defying sound that is both rooted in heritage and boldly progressive.Drawing inspiration from Venezuela’s diverse musical traditions, Los Crema Paraiso reimagine folk classics, transforming them with electrifying guitar riffs, intricate percussion, and deep, groove-driven basslines. Their compositions seamlessly navigate from the earthy tones of joropo and merengue to the cosmic realms of psychedelia and experimental jazz, making their music equally at home in dance clubs, jazz venues, and rock festivals.Los Crema Paraiso has captivated audiences across the globe, bringing their high-energy performances to major stages in the United States, including the Ruido Festival in Chicago, River to River Festival in New York, the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), and the Echale Festival in San Antonio. Beyond North America, they have performed in Venezuela and Colombia, sharing their vibrant take on Venezuelan music with local audiences. Their reach extends even further, as they embarked on an Australian tour in 2014, further solidifying their international presence.

***Cultural icons of Colombia, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto are a Latin Grammy-winning group who transmit the roots of cumbia, puya, porro, gaita, and bullerengue music. Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto masterfully blends the rich heritage of pre-colonial Colombian instruments, rhythms, and melodies with contemporary perspectives, creating a sound that bridges tradition to the modernity of cumbia and tropicalismo.Their new record, Orgullo Colombiano, released on July 12, 2024, showcases a dynamic range of storytelling, spanning from devotional love songs to reflections on fading traditions amid rapid modernization, and the violent social/political conflict that have marred Colombia. At its core, Orgullo Colombiano is a celebration of cumbia and Colombian music, its an excavation of the past with feet firmly planted in the present preserving the legacy of iconic musicians like Toño Fernandez and Andres Landero, both of whom are from San Jacinto. In an era where cumbia is gaining greater popularity and hybridization, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto remain the roots that allowed this musical tradition to flourish.

***With an atmospheric sound reminiscent of a Cormac McCarthy novel, This Lonesome Paradise crafts songs that evoke the haunting essence of the American West. Their sound draws from the marrow of American tradition, yet reaches out for the uncanny and experimental— dripping with Lynchian soul, goth, and trip-hop, all threaded through their unmistakable signature: neo-noir twang.Luna Nocturna, is by far their most wounded, honest, and creative work to date. It’s music for the lost, for those who’ve stood at the crossroads and felt the pull of every direction at once. The melodies don’t ask for forgiveness, and the stories aren’t for the faint-hearted. Here, guitars hum like cicadas in the heat, while the rhythm taps out the heartbeat of something wounded—something once coiled, now clawing its way toward the light.

***Hailing from the borderlands of San Diego, CA, Drug Hunt is a quartet of natural seditionists blending psychedelia with the sonic palettes of garage, post-punk, and noise with occasional forays into prog and metal. Their unique sound has earned them cinematic comparisons like “Tarantinoesque” for their eclectic, anachronistic style— a self-aware collage that transforms the familiar into something new—and “Biker Bar Pink Floyd” for their raw yet ethereal performances. Due to this Drug Hunt has supported a wide array of acts such as Son Rompe Pera, WAND, Earthless, Black Mountain, Dead Meadow, Surfbort, Spoon Benders, Meatbodies, and most recently, Death Valley Girls and Ty Segall.Their latest album, Feast, released 7/20/24 was described by Stereogum as “warbly visions and proclamations from an acid-addled prophet”. The record shifts from horn-led marches, post-punk proclamations and all-out psychedelic freakouts. Every corner is pumped with sonic light featuring contributions from William Flemming and Jesse Audelo (Sure Fire Soul Ensemble), Matt Bozzone (Space Hall Sound Machine, Mitchum Yacoub). Jess Roberts (Deap Vally, The Everettes).
